What is the battery life of an ebike?
1. Battery Type and Life
Lead-Acid Battery:
Lead-acid batteries are the earliest type of battery used in electric vehicles. Their advantages are low cost, but their disadvantages are also obvious, such as fast capacity decay, large size, heavy weight, and fewer charge and discharge cycles.
The life of lead-acid batteries is usually short, generally around 1-2 years. Of course, this also depends on usage and maintenance.
Lithium Battery:
Compared with lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries have higher energy density, lighter weight, and longer cycle life.
Under normal use and maintenance, the service life of lithium batteries can reach 3-5 years. Some high-quality lithium batteries can even achieve longer cycle charge and discharge times, such as lithium iron phosphate batteries that can reach more than 3,500 cycles, and ternary lithium batteries that can also have more than 2,500 cycles.
Other New Batteries:
In recent years, some new battery technologies have also emerged, such as graphene batteries, sodium batteries, and hydrogen batteries. These batteries may have better performance in terms of energy density, service life, etc., but they are not yet widely used in the electric vehicle market.
